About Us.
Dos Ositos was started by the brother & sister team Brae Iglesias & Osa Iglesias with the help of their father, Kristian Iglesias.
Our family is always cooking together, and the idea of making handmade ice pops with fresh fruit was talked about often. Like many people, we found ourselves with a lot of time on our hands during the pandemic and decided to start making some. Our Papa designed and fabricated the cart, and from there, we ordered the other necessities (molds, sticks, and bags) for starting our ice pop business.
On top of pop-ups, we also sell our product at Little Creek Oysters, Good Food, Lucharitos, Orient Country Store, Silly Lily Fishing Station, and Share The Harvest.
The name, which translates to little bear in Spanish, comes from the two founders’ names — Osa and Brae. Osa means bear in Spanish, and Brae is an anagram for bear. Hence, two bears in Spanish is Dos Ositos. Brae conceptualized the logo, and Osa drew it.
Our pops are made in small batches to maintain high quality, and we try our best to purchase local or organic fresh fruit when available. We clean and process the fruit and add a small amount of natural organic sugar and fresh fruit pieces. Then we pour the puree into molds and let it freeze.
When sourcing our fruit, we always try to get the “ugly” fruit, produce that won’t sell because of cosmetic blemishes or over-ripeness, both perfect for making paletas.
